NYC-Buffalo 12/12/2022

Three days of traveling, walking, learning, seeing friends and family and more alcohol than the zero i normally drink had me pretty wiped out by Monday morning and I actually slept too late to get a run in before packing and getting to another early morning lecture on time.

This great horned Owl was on my roof at home the day before! We hear them in the woods a lot but have never seen one perched before, I sometimes see an owl or bat flying in sky before dawn when walking fifa.
Times Square pretty empty at 8am Monday morning 🙂 really cold today!
Big ballroom pretty empty, most people are at meeting Sat and Sun. It is free to NYSSA members so ALL the locals come on the weekend. It is the out of towners making a real conference trip that usually are there the whole Friday to Tuesday.

When it first started being used for opiate addiction (it is better than Methadone in a few respects) we were told to stop it before surgery or our opiates would not work at all but except at highest doses there are usually still some receptors available.

This was another multi lecture panel about caring for patients in non operating room environments.
It is hard to provide safe sedation to patients with sleep apnea. I sometimes have to deal with this problem caring for patients being prepared for Bariatric (Weight loss banding, etc) surgery who need upper endoscopic evaluations before surgery.
Last lecture was one about complications of regional anesthesia.
And then… pow! A quick taxi ride, lunch at Terminal 5 JFK and less than an hour in air to Buffalo. Planned to blog on flight but only had the energy for reading my Kindle.
Home is where the pup is 🙂
