Detroit

On my Delta plane to Seattle now. 5 hour flight. Lucky to have 2 flights on time, airlines have been erratic lately. It has been a loooong time since I have been to the Detroit airport because it is an amazing modern, shiny place, not the dingy hellhole I remember. I was hoping to finish my current kindle book, Barbarian Days about surfing the world in the 70s by a not quite yet writer. I will have to take a break from it on flight though and devote study time to Olympic National Park Guide where I am heading tomorrow. I usually would have read a lot more and planned my park visit but I have just read a view articles on the Outside.com website. Since February I have been to Boca Raton, Providence, Baltimore/DC and Boston and have worked TWO days many weeks instead of my preferred one. One hospital very short handed and I am too nice sometimes. Working two days this week really squeezed my prep time for trip. I am listening to Quest Love’s audiobook Music is History and will have to find some good long ones for my longer driving days. This Delta Airbus 321 is VERY nice, especially after my last flight on a Southwest bus with wings.

Detroit airport looks like a vision of The FUTURE from an old movie.

Day 0 of Van Adventure

6am flight to Detroit is on time. Settled on plane and deleted Facebook and Twitter from phone. Kept Instagram for a way to share a few photos without falling down social media rabbit hole. Only about half the people in the airport had masks on despite it being NY law still. Plane they are not required now but same half still wearing them, including the woman next to me!!! I actually think I will always be wearing my N95 and purell-ing on flights forever, if nothing else will prevent a common cold ruining a vacation.

Able to pack “light” because shipped 3 boxes of camping gear to Pete Grote’s house in Seattle.
Until … Motown!

Friday night fun at Sportsmen’s Tavern

Didn’t get home until after 1 am and then went on 100 mile (windy) bike and 2 mile run so just getting to this now but … great night seeing excellent Dead cover band recreating a show from 40 years. Young woman on drums and some vocals was great as were guitarists.
