As I typed that title it reminded me that I had forgotten to mention something about “Slow Horses” (AppleTV) in my last post.
The theme song (played at start and end of episodes) is so perfectly appropriate. I recognized Mick Jagger’s voice but had not heard the song before.
! A few seconds of research on Google and I’ve learned I hadn’t heard the song because he wrote and recorded it for the series, and had read the books!

Damn, he is still so talented and vibrant at age 81! Interestingly he was at Alex’s Gallatin/NYU graduation (at the Beacon Theater) in May as his son was graduating also.
“Mick Jagger’s son Lucas Maurice Morad-Jagged graduated from NYU in May 2024 and both of his parents attended the ceremony:
Lucas is the son of Mick Jagger and Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez”
If I can still finish an Ironman at age 80 I will finally qualify for Kona but I definitely don’t want any more kids. Alex is perfect and I doubt I can now handle even a puppy much less a baby!
When I heard the song in the first episode it reminded me of another perfectly appropriate and chilling song used for Season 4 of “True Detective“ (HBO).
I hadn’t seen the first 3 seasons but will go back at some point (they are each free standing stories with different casts). I will watch ANYTHING with Jodi Foster in it.
I did recognize a great Billie song playing at the start and end of each episode.
“The theme song for season 4 of True Detective: Night Country is “Bury a Friend” by Billie Eilish. The song plays during the show’s title sequence.
Showrunner Issa López chose the song because she thought it was dark, moody, fun, sinister, unexpected, and feminine.”
Soooo much better a song than the too sweet Barbie Theme.
Onto 120 miles in the saddle ….. I took some scenic fall photos on my long ride as I knew it would make a good Relive App video.

I didn’t have time to add captions to the photos but check out the cute baby goat on the leash at the pumpkin patch. I thought it was a dog at first! It was a very windy day and occasionally lightly drizzling but for Buffalo at end of September it was excellent weather and never got above 70 degrees. I exactly replicated the nutrition I plan for the Ironman Florida bike course.

Here is my last month’s training plan. A 3 hour run this weekend and a 6 hour bike ride next weekend and then start tapering for race.

And bonus video of cute fox I saw yesterday!
